I give way to the Linux thought police Karl.. I leave you to concentrate on
a much more important topic.

Perhaps you might post something much more important than the question of
why after 30 years the PC software industry is a great deal less secure than
it was when it began.

It is just this kind of apathy that will sustain it that way.

For all the 3D graphics, physics engines and motion control sensors we
have now, I still say that Chuckie Egg is the pinnacle of gaming.

I think i'm going to have to recreate the scene by putting a "No Entry"
sign on the door, pretending it is lunch break at school and sneaking
into the computer lab...

For all those too young to remember it, have a go. It is amazingly
simple but so addictive. Also try Repton (the game not the school).

Playing it on the original BBC is how it should be played.

I think that's a bit much, but hell it is a whole helluva lot of fun.
Personally Super Mario Galaxy is the pinnacle of gaming for me, its just so
much fun to hear mario zipping and wh00ping!

But every mario (apart from n64/gamecube, as the controllers were built for
kids hands) was a brilliant game. I remember playing super mario brothers on
the gameboy! such a classic!

BTW I have a snes emulator and about 500 or so ROMs, classic gaming rocks!

castlevania for instance!

Please note, presumably we are talking about Bill Gates the image here, the
illusory frankenstein software industry monster maker. I can't speak
personally about him because i don't know him personally - all i will say
is that he probably sleeps, eats, shits and dies in a similar fashion to
everybody else.

The only real time when i really wanted to stick my finger in his eye
(personally) was when someone i care very dearly about was uploading photos
of antiques on to Ebay and some a*hole managed to scramble her hard disk.

Yea... i do want the software industry to start taking responsibility. And
why shouldn't we start by looking at what people got wrong.... rather than
listening to the noise of the ego-mungers, who presumably want the unreal
messages to come across.. Bill Gates the billionaire, Bill Gates the
philanpropist, Bill Gates - son of America etc.

So Bill Gates is a screw-up and now its left for all us good people to sort
his screw-ups out.

Screw up... The billionaire screw up... One of the most successful men
ever screw up.

I dont think that makes sense.

As much as we whine about how he makes our lives harder (this is a linux
ML after all) he has probably made our lives a lot easier without us
knowing it.

Stephen

Can you please stop the topic changes and blotting out posts, It is not how
people tend to interact on mailing lists. Also, as we've already had a long
round of who'd like to kill bill more I think this topic is well and truly
dead.

K,

He's made my life easier. Through Microsoft gaining the market domination
of business desktops it means I can interact, co-operate and collaborate
with people in different organisations all over the world.

Something I think the Linux community still needs to work on, both
technically and socially.
