I guess I'm a complete innocent: but I thought the idea was that it 
didn't need configuration.  Isn't it supposed to detect the best proxy 
to use and just do it for you?  I guess nothing's that easy.  What I did 
find is a comment that it reads configuration from Gnome/KDE etc so I 
guess there are some settings in those desktops which tell it all it 
needs to know.
