Lack of interesting technical talks to maintain the interest of the more
knowledgeable base of the LUG who are able to do the talks on the "user"
stuff for the less knowledgeable.

I honestly don't think KLUG members are this stupid. 95% of those people
who turn upto a KLUG meet have atleast tried to install linux on their
machine. Of these most have succeeded. Of the aps in a base install of
ubuntu most of them are shockingly self explanatory. Calculator, very easy
to understand, for example.

I think there is a better use that can made of the limited time at LUG
meets. I am not suggesting that we should spend it all on talks about the
internals of the kernel, I Just think there is a better balance to be
made.

This all said, perhaps the format you suggest would be better put to a
"what is linux?" event, for people who haven't installed it before, for
people who don't really know anything about this.

LUG members aren't stupid, lets not patronise them.
