Just wondering if you've come across waf:

Have just built a few packages from source which come with ./waf scripts.
Compared with ./configure, the output is very clean, and in colour too (
meaning I suppose, it's much less intimidating ). If that is any
reflection of it's ease of use/deployment (a listed reason to use it),
I might have to try it some time.
