no need for nimble fingers, lightening reaction times, or precise
targeting of fire power, just devious logic to defeat Xor* and escape
the 15 mazes.
coded in C, and using the ncurses library, XorCurses will (probably) run
on any old ancient bucket you care to run linux on. (it put it on the
server hosting my website and ran it over ssh (on dialup) and was
playing quite happily - until they killed it).
latest release takes advantage of resizing terminals (xterm recommended
for best performance) for a larger game display area, unless you wish to
play with the "old school" difficulty setting for authentic Xor
experience (in which case ignore the fact you can run a replay and
continue playing from any point within it).
just to give you an idea of how challenging this game is, i have written
from scratch and debugged the code to handle the behaviour and
precedence of the objects, but failed to complete any level from 9
upwards. but don't worry, help is included.
* in the original game, a letter forming part of a coded anagram would be
awarded upon completion of a level, which then needed to be decoded, and
the anagram solved to become a "member of the order of xor" - this is
the only thing missing from xorcurses.
