I'm intrigued that nobody has mentioned Wikipedia who are at present doing a
big (and very successful) drive. But then perhaps their success is part of
why we shouldn't worry too much to donate as they are doing well.

Are there any lists/documents on projects that are and
aren't already sponsored? For example projects like Firefox already have
some commercial financial backing.

I am in favor of the gimp, a shining example of oss software that I have
used and relied upon many times.

For the future, what about the kernel project itself?
Perhaps next time this comes around we should list all the projects that we
have featured in tech talks etc...
