Mandriva 2010 still officially uses Thunderbird 2 - version 3 is in 
the "backports" repo, so I tried it but when it didn't work out I 
just went back to the version of 2 in the normal repo.

mozilla-thunderbird-2.0.0.23-3.3mdv2010.0.i586.rpm is available here:
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/2010.0/i586/media/main/updates/

As PCLOS is Mandriva-based, maybe this rpm would work for you?
