You appear to be using the digest then, not using the individual messages.
This would be part of the problem. It is really bad form on a mailing list
to start a new thread for each reply, you are using googlemail, and it
supports threading. I suggest you move from the digest delivery to
"normal" delivery, if you are going to be heavily involved with the list
you will find it easier. 

While you are at it, learn to trim posts, learn to quote enough for
context, and don't top post. But, above all, use reply properly, you
really are going to try everyones patience if you don't, there is no
excuse, even mutt on the command line does it all properly.
