Firstly.   Thank you
for the replies. Probably very basic stuff for you all but still a bit of a
steep curve for me.

Answering some of the questions and asking new ones,

Harry was eventually diagnosed with a chromosome deficiency called
‘1p36 deletion syndrome’ see rarechromo.org which mum/dad are members of and
going to conference in Southampton later this year. The condition covers a wide
spectrum of less-ablement (is there such a word?). Basically means he is severely
developmentally delayed. That describes the ‘what’ which doesn’t describe the ‘who’.
At just over 3yrs he cannot walk or talk but he lets you know what he wants – seems
that he expects us to learn his language rather than he ours! He very much enjoys
the therapy sessions at the excellent Childrens’ Resource Centre at Darenth
Valley and sometimes even the physio and portage sessions at home with his
therapists. Lots of advice/support from NHS but we think that he will benefit, if
not next week then at some time, from additional treatments or equipment. Hence
the desire to put something away for those moments.

I’ve been looking at wordpress & tumblr can see that it
may be just the thing. I also looked at joomla and think that looks too
sophisticated for our needs.

I’ve looked at godaddy and have found a free domain in .info
for £1.22 (I guess) per year).

Stephen, you mentioned
that magic word so if possible I’d like to work with you and develop something
that contains a mix of news/blog and information pages with gallery of pics (of
Harry & events/friends of Harry). If OK, can you email me direct and we can
exchange details and start? No substantial rush. I have an idea of what I want. The stage I am at now is to try and understand how to find and
customise a suitable template. And how I describe the structure to you. Does that make sense?

Paul
