Gnome-Do is a bit like that http://do.davebsd.com/
<http://do.davebsd.com/>I use it all the time. Simple Windows Key + Space
and up it pops, start typing and it finds the app, press enter and it's
loading.
Has other feature to which I haven't looked into.
