I would venture to suggest that procurement of open source is poor, due to the 'what we're used to' factor.....which includes updates, spam fixes, and other 'maintenance requirements'
I don't see many open source software suppliers catering to the continuation of their 'worries' [read needs]

Subject: [Klug-general] Kent LUG September Event

Good morning all, After the busy summer those who have children and those of us who drive to work across a town will be aware that the holiday is over and the children are back at school (I was almost enjoying my commute for a while there).

Are we looking at a September meeting? I'm busy on the 17th (third Saturday) but Free the 24th (last Sat). Since I have been hacking a few things with bash scripts I'm happy to do a tech talk on bash scripting if people are interested.

I have also been busy the past couple of weeks with the prototype group at the innovation centre: http://icmp.org.uk/Got myself an Arduino which I need to learn to work with, so I might also be able to show that off shortly.

And for stuff in the media, government and OSS, the comments are more thought out (or at least thought provoking) than the article (as is getting increasingly the case): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14765545
Sadly the article is pointing out a litle of the "same old, same old".
