Yeah... Um... My Tab2 was an effective brick for several days but
after fixing it I felt confident to have a go at my phone (the tab2
was a free gift with the phone on contract).

It's a Galaxy Ace, GT-S5830i. decided I wanted Android Jellybean,
found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35603363&postcount=3

Ignored the "For flash v3.0, you must have first to flash stock rom
via odin, then you can flash 3.0." warning as had not flashed the
phone, meaning it was on the stock rom.

Now it doesn't get past the Samsung Galaxy Ace logo. I can't get it
into CWM recovery, but I can get it into download/odin mode.

So I put it into download mode and plugged it in via USB and in
VirtualBox (in order to use Odin) I selected the device and after a
few moments it reports USB errors.

dmesg says:

I'm considering making a real installation of Vista again :-(

Which means deleting my Debian install (a new version will be out soon
anyway) and moving the root partition of Arch Linux as Vista needs to
be on first partition of HDD (IIRC). Oh what fun..
