Hi all

Many thanks to Jo for looking after March's LUG meeting, here is her
write-up of the night:

March's Lincoln LUG meeting was a little bit different from the usual.
Family commitments meant that our usual masters of proceedings, Philip
and Becky were not able to attend... unperturbed, the gathering went
on as normal. Being a civilised lot, and despite there being distros
of Arch, Mint, Puppy, CrunchBang, Android, Raspbian, OSX and even
Windows present, no fights broke out, and no hostages were taken.

One corner of the room was taken up with Jo's Raspberry Pi; it needed
the space despite being a tiny computer, once all the peripherals were
connected, you would have problems fitting it in to a suitcase.
Alistair bought along an optic fibre light source attached to a camera
for inspecting ears and other tiny crevices. The main point being to
remove the mini CRT monitor from the assemblage and see if we could
use it for the Pi. Initially, some inquisitive probing of nasal and
oral, and aural cavities ensued. It seems a good geeky way to meet and
greet people! Jo then proceeded to set to with screwdrivers and any
other tools that she could beg borrow or steal to disassemble the
array.

Special kudos goes to Alistair Crust who came along on his birthday to
spend the evening with us. One brave soul quickly set up his computer
to 'sing' “Happy Birthday”in a wonderfully mono-tonal robotic voice,
but sadly it did not express punctuation, or melody. Dave and Jon
came over from HullLUG and entertained us with amusing YouTube
snippets, and Miles demonstrated more games running on his Acer
netbook.

We are looking forward to the next LUG meeting which will be on Weds
17th April 2013 starting at 7pm at Lincoln Bowl. Don't forget the LUG
logo competition which can be found at

See you all soon

Becky
