[Lincoln LUG] Booting from USB on a Dell XPS 13

Hi guys

OK, so having done all the BIOS and UEFI wrngling I can, I'm now not sure
that's the issue!

When I tried my Ubuntu USB stick in another machine, a Win 7 device that's
a few years old and has 'normal' BIOS, I still got the 'no operating system
message'. So maybe the ISO I used was knackered or had no boot loader on it.

So, I tried:

 - re-downloading latest Ubuntu and trying again with same stick and
different stick - no dice on either machine
 - using the LTS version, on two sticks and both machines - same result
 - using the 'sputnik' ISO for this particular machine, both sticks - same
result
 - using the latest debian, both sticks, both machines, same result

I'm using unetbootin on a mac to create the USB sticks - not had a problem
before doing this.

Not used a CD with a USB CD drive yet as can't get my hands on a drive this
weekend.

Any thoughts? This is doing my head in.

Dave
