<htmlHi
RE: 3 - installing RPM's in YAST
Yast is easy- i'm an almosy newbie (inexperienced but getting there) and i
can do it... since your using KDE its REAL easy... use konquerer browse to
the directory that contains the RPM and select it... you'll se a run-down of
the RPM you downloaded in the main window, and a button will appear in the
navigation bar at the top saying install with YAST... click it!
Voila!

occasionally this doesn't work :( dunno why, sometimes it just doesnt seem
to like it- if this is the case make sure its saved in a low level directory
(or high, depending on your view...) i have created /toBeInstalled just for
this very task!
when you go into YAST's install software menu there's a 'select source' sub
menu... use that to select /toBeInstalled (or wherever you've used)and it
will check for files it can install (rpm, run, etc)... select your RPM and
aain.... VOILA!!
!!!Note!!!
For some reason this method does require a directory high in the directory
tree... for some reason it panics if it looks too far... it might just be my
pants laptop but i vaguely remember it not liking /home/user/file.rpm (it
might have been on the desktop... still point is not many branches)

Sorry i feel i have rambled and kicked the arse out of the explaination
enough... hope this helps!
good luck
