Hi Becky,
Of the people that responded, how many where in the Lincoln area? I
count 12 responses and only 5 of them in Lincoln. It's too easy to
jump in and say positive things and get positive responses back, and
then infer something that wasn't so explicitly said.
Why did you make a play to take over the LUG?
I've been mostly silent on this list in the past, partly due to buying
a house, involvement in several other clubs, and not having the
resources to invest in it (resources that are becoming available more
and more recently). I'm all for making a go of a County-wide Linux
User Group. After all, that's what was started, that's what we wanted
to join (I assume) or we wouldn't all be here. As a long time lurker
in the LincsLUG mailing list, if there's some upcoming activities in
the LUG, I'll do what I can, to make the LUG work.
If there's a Local LUG starting up on tha back of a county wide one,
and it happens to be in my back yard, I'd also like to know about the
technical side of things that are discussed there (after all, despite
everything else, I am still a geek!) hell, I might even make some
friends there, so of course I signed up to the mailing list. At no
point does that indicate any tacit support of the new and upcoming
Lincoln LUG. If it helps, please try to think of my presence on the
list as that of a curious observer.
While Forums may have their limitations, so do mailing lists. They're
not so user friendly, forums present their infomation in a more
organised manner. Are you not a member of any forums?
