To: oxlug at lists.oxlug.org
X-Mailer: Lotus Notes Release 6.5 September 26, 2003

I attach a copy of a job description I am posting on the Internet.
Although it does not particularly emphasise Linux I would prefer someone
with Linux experience, or at least someone who wants to develop their
expertise in that direction.
Please feel free to reply or send it on to anyone you know.

IT Support Engineer

Oxford International is a highly-regarded, established Conference and
Incentive agency based in Summertown, Oxford. We employ approximately 24
people working in the following areas:

Sales (1), Operations (8), IT (2), Finance (1) B2B Conferences (10).

In our early days, Oxford International specialised in the pharmaceutical
conference field, along with other conference and incentive travel
projects. We are now expanding into more strategic marketing and
motivation programmes and a wider range of corporate travel events. To
help support this expansion we are recruiting an IT Support Engineer,
reporting to the IT Director.

Ideally the candidate should Linux server and Windows (desktop)
experience, and be familiar with web technologies. You should be a
self-starter, but also be prepared to undertake routine taks reliably. You
will need good communcation skills for distance and face-to-face meetings
with both colleagues and clients.

During 2001, the company set up a new division specialising in the B2B
conference market and has a team of ten tele-sales working on BioTech,
Pharmaceutical and Telecommunications events. This division is currently
managed as a separate cost centre and is heavily dependent on e-marketing
and web based communication. It is likely we will have 7 or 8 web sites
active at any one time.

Salary would be £18-20k, depending on experience, plus a
performance-related bonus. Holidays start at 22 days rising to 25 after
three years.
There is a contributory pension and health scheme (eligibility after 3
months), and also travel-industry-related benefits.
