Tiger Computing, a leading supplier of Linux support and consultancy
services, has a vacancy for a Linux Support Consultant working from
our offices near Coleford, Gloucestershire. This is a wide-ranging role
that involves working with customers, both on-site and remotely, providing
remedial support services and ad-hoc consultancy. The successful
candidate will enjoy solving technical problems, will understand how to
research problems outside of his or her experience, and will have
excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The work is
approximately 80% office based and 20% at customers' premises. There is no
Windows work associated with this role. Key requirements:

    * excellent written and verbal communications skills
    * a "can do" attitude
    * good TCP/IP skills
    * Linux system management skills
    * exposure to common programming/scripting languages
    * experience of working with customers
    * good understanding of common Linux server applications (SMTP,
      POP3/IMAP, spam and antivirus scanning, Apache, firewalls, Samba,
      VPNs, databases, etc)

Salary is likely to be in the range £22,000 to low-thirties depending on
experience, and there is a profit-sharing scheme for employees after an
