Job Role: Redhat Linux System Administrator

Location: London

Client: Energy Trading Company

Type: Contract (3mth initial)

Start Date: Immediate

Pay: £350-450/day

The Role: This role is for a 3 month contract for an excellent Linux/Unix skilled individual working in a virtualized Redhat environment.  It is possible the contract may be extended.

The hardware used here are HP C Class blades and knowledge of reporting to HP Sim is important. The main 2 skills required for this role and where this person should be no less than excellent in are:

·          Redhat Xen Virtualization, other virtualization products would be an advantage too

·         Thorough understanding of package management, particularly libraries and dependencies

Other Skills needed for the role are:

·         Automated deployment / build of Hosts and Guests to 32 physical Servers and 100 Virtual, currently use HP Alteris

·         Administration: security, AD integration would be an advantage

·         Networking: Diagnose problems, configure Linux routing and bridging

·         NFS: Configure/diagnose problems

·         Mysql: Master/slave or clustering

·         Some programming ability. Particularly Ruby/C++

·         Experience with monitoring software and alerts system including, Nagios, Ganglia and familiarity with HP agents and integration into HP Sim in an HP blade environment both at host level and guest

·         Knowledge of grid systems would be a great advantage but not necessary
