Job Title: Hotels.com Systems Analyst
Reports to: Infrastructure Engineering Manager
Location: London


Position Description: 
The Systems Analyst position provides end to end support for a combined production and development environments on a 24x7 basis and including monitoring, maintaining and supporting a variety of hardware systems, batch processes, applications, network devices, and databases. 

This position also requires that the candidate stay abreast of current technologies and contributes and participates in the analysis and recommendation of new strategies and/or technologies to improve the e-commerce systems environment.


Responsibilities
. Assists in developing and implementing, short and long-term goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the web site that support the mission, goals and objectives of Hotels.com EMEA and APAC platforms as well as the global migration to the Hermes Platform . Code deployment for all supported platforms.
. Specific duties include: maintaining, developing, and supporting web/application server administration and architecture, security, and hardware maintenance, web support services, monitoring, and scripting. Coordinates and tracks work flow, schedules, projects and technology decisions. Maintains required documentation, determines capacity requirements, and projects site enhancements.
. Assists in the architectural design of the company's web site. Facilitates the provision and maintenance of site functionality. Provides and maintains shared resources and site management tools (such as templates and scripts). Assists departments and administrative units (QA, project teams, etc.) in interpreting and adhering to standards.
. Scripting capabilities (Perl, bash) are necessary, deep skills in this area a plus.
. Support and administration of Web and Application servers, including RHEL / Centos 4 and 5, Apache 2.x, Tomcat 6 and Java 1.6 Applications, LDAP authentication, and monitoring (ProactiveNet) . Supports the 24x7 operations environment by working nights and weekends when necessary. 
. Knowledge of web technologies from Browser to Iron to troubleshoot Live site issues . Work closely with Program Management, Product Development, Test and Site Operations teams for the deployment, configuration, system requirement validation . Responsible for maintaining compliance with environmental security and trustworthy computing policies. 
. Work with Operations and Incident management to quickly manage and resolve complex issues and outages, with multiple teams including DBA's, Network Ops, Marketing and the business. 
. Provides detailed documentation of issue being worked and following all proscribed processes. 
. Creation and execution of detailed instructions to support operations and maintenance of systems, servers, application, network devices, and databases. Drafting and review of technical documentation

Required Qualifications
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a minimum of 4 years proven experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise level transactional eCommerce systems . Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
. Expertise with Red Hat Linux operation systems in an enterprise environment . Proven experience with, and deep understanding of, performance tuning . Expertise building, implementing and supporting monitoring tools . Proven expertise with one or more of the following scripting languages;, Perl, ksh, bash . Solid understanding of security fundamentals as they pertain to ecommerce application environments.
. Advanced understanding of XML, HTML, Java and related web technologies . Microsoft and/or Linux certifications


Preferred Qualifications
. Worked in a large eCommerce transactional environment. 
. Experience with load-balancing, SSL acceleration, caching, and content distribution . Previous testing experience is a plus
