Hi,
After such success advertising for a Sysadmin last week, I thought I'd
post a slightly less-linuxy job on here, on the off chance anyone is
interested!
Our primary tech is Ruby on Rails, and we're looking to hire new
developers - in theory one or two, but we'd probably take more if the
right people come along. At one level, we're looking for good Rails
experience, smart people who get things done, but we're also looking
for (and prepared to pay for) somebody with BDD experience.
Here's an excerpt from the job postings:
(http://www.setfiremedia.com/who-we-are/join-the-team/ruby-on-rails-bdd-ecommerce-platform-developer
and http://www.setfiremedia.com/who-we-are/join-the-team/ruby-on-rails-developer-job-manchester)
=====
Setfire Media is looking to expand its expertise with Rails and BDD
and is looking for a Rails developer experienced with this exciting
way of working.
We are currently writing a brand new e-commerce platform, built using
BDD practices in Rails. We have an internal launch customer lined up,
and a queue of internal and external projects who will be switched to
this platform over the next 12 months. Want to be involved in writing
a platform that will soon be running some of the busiest Rails
e-commerce sites in the world? Yes? Then this is the role for you.
Apply now for an immediate interview. Send your CV and covering letter
to recruitment at setfiremedia.com
What We Do
We are a specialist web and software development agency - we work in
agile (Scrum/Kanban) teams to create great products in Ruby and Rails.
We write features with Cucumber, specs with RSpec, wireframe with
Balsamiq, control our source code with Git, deploy with Capistrano and
monitor with NewRelic RPM. Best of all, we're always open to new ways
of doing things, turning everything on its head, and take pride in
keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the Rails and open
source communities.
We're active in the Manchester Tech Community - we're regulars,
sponsors and speakers at NWRUG, Northern Digitals, GeekUp and,
recently, BarCamp Manchester 2.
Not only do we have a great track record of delivering successful
projects for our clients, but we're also talented entrepreneurs in our
own right - our flagship internal e-commerce site, Cartridge Save, is
experiencing record growth and will be shortly converted to our new
e-commerce platform. This role would involve this exciting migration
of an existing site with a large customer base.
We've been in the industry for over 10 years, and have been rebranded
as 'Setfire' for just over a year.
Here's some stuff you need:
* Experience and passion about open source technologies; Ruby on
Rails, Linux, all that jazz
* First-name terms with best programming practices - OO, version
control, BDD/TDD, continuous integration etc
* Great team-working ability; expect to work with both technical
experts and other e-commerce specialists
* Excellent debugging skills
* A commitment to getting better at what you do (and we'll provide
any help we can)
* Fluent English
What you can get from us:
* Laid-back office with table football and Mortal Kombat machine
(and more games on their way)
* The chance to work in one of the smartest teams around
* Free rein on your OS, IDE etc - we provide you with a couple of
nice monitors, a big desk and a fast computer (Mac or PC) and you do
the rest
* Negotiable (and competitive) salary based on experience
* Flexible working hours - no '9 to 5' (unless you really enjoy 9 to 5!)
* Commitment to your training - be it internal training,
screencasts, books, conferences or whatever
Not to mention:
* Loads of opportunities to advance your career within the company
* A commitment to great internal communications and openness - in
our Monday 'Full Team Scrum' and regular one-to-ones with staff.
* Pension
* Profit-based bonus
* Free parking
* Increasing annual holidays
* Excellent job security
=====
Hopefully that sound like it might be of interest to you, or somebody
you know! Any questions, just give me a shout - we're a friendly bunch
and Setfire is a great place to work.
Cheers,
Sam
