The Particle Physics Research Centre at Queen Mary, University of London
has a vacancy for a Cluster System Manager to co-manage the Centre's
High Throughput computing facilities and to contribute to its
integration within the GridPP project.
The Centre is involved in a number of running and future Particle
Physics experiments including major commitments to the ATLAS experiment
at the LHC. In order to support these activities the Group has installed
a large, Linux based, High Throughput Computing Cluster. The Cluster
currently comprises of 1400 CPU cores and 400 TB of storage. It is
intended to significantly expand this facility in the next year. The
successful candidate will work with an existing senior system manager
and be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of the
Cluster's hardware and software, its future development and the
development and deployment of Grid software.
This full-time post is funded until 31st March 2011 with the possibility
of renewal thereafter.The initial salary will be in the range £30,229 -
£35,532 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the
UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to
remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
