Kthxbai Limited is ultra tiny & a spinoff from a specialist subscriber
search engine which is the most successful one in its market.

We are a distributed company and have no offices for now & you'll be working
from home, ideally you'll be Brighton or SE but elsewhere may work. You'll
be independent and not need, or get, hand-holding: we'll give you the tasks
you do them.

The job:
We need a firefighter as a full time permanent sysadmin with very strong
skills who can take over a fairly complex undocumented system from the
previous admin who moved on and who can spare us no time other than to
advise a successor. As a result of this our systems have almost no admin and
will soon start falling over. initially you'll need to be able to figure out
the systems in a hurry and keep things running. Once that's done there needs
to be a thorough overhaul and a more strategic look at our requirements and
you will advise us on that.
 Skills:Knowledge of Sun Fire x86 (sparc to lesser extent) hardware and
iLOMs
Cisco IOS; switch configuration
Lantronix SLC access server configuration

FreeBSD/Linux/Solaris in that order of importance

Grasp of FreeBSD installation procedure without using their installer as
we install new machines using network boot and a bunch of shellscripts;
awareness of Solaris Jumpstart helpful but no important.

ZFS on FreeBSD configuration and tuning
Basic networking: subnets static routes / address aliases in all 3 OSes
above;
MySQL up to 5.5, with experience in deployment, configuration,
troubleshooting, replication, InnoDB
Apache 2.0/2.2 deployment and configuration; PHP/FastCGI deployment and
configuration

Nagios deployment and configuration; RRDtool for logging and graphing

OpenVPN and associated technologies (tunneling, bridging)

Exim 4.
BIND 9

SVN version management

KVM virtualisation

Ideally you'll have experience of threaded C development, gdb debugging &
PHP/Perl/Ruby/Bash development CV & covering letter and salary expectations
