Role Purpose:
Work in the Digital Operations Team to insure the integrity
and availability of Global websites and web services, including
Yell.com, eMarketplace and the next generation of Internet Yellow Pages
Help ensure that new developments and products are deployed to
schedule, using automation and ‘platform as a service’ technologies.
Use leading edge monitoring technologies to insure the reliability of
publically facing website.
Liaise with other infrastructure Teams, based both in the US and Spain
to ensure that the necessary computing resources are available to
support the digital services.
Role Responsibilities:
Ensure that significant problems are identified and communicated in the
appropriate manner at the earliest opportunity. Ensure that solutions
are identified and implemented in line with the change control and
release process, following a pragmatic implementation of ITIL
standards.
Actively support company policy and best practice in the area of
security both of Yell.com and customer information.
Evaluate and make recommendations on technical options as appropriate
for the purchase of additional hardware or software and on the
suitability of prospective website partners.
Take technical leadership for SCRUM developments, acting as an
escalation point for Operational Issues from agile developments.
Liaising with other managers from other infrastructure teams across the
Globe, ensuring that new developments are deployed according to agreed
timescales. Ensuring that agile project developments are correctly
supported after they go live.
Experience & Personal Attributes Required:
Knowledge of ITIL, Capacity Planning. Load Testing, managing
environments, Oracle/MySQL databases and Linux / Unix systems.
Deployment technology including puppet, SVN and Git.
Monitoring technology such as Zabbix and Nagios.
Preferably experience of PHP, Java, Perl, HTML, JavaScript and other
web technologies. Familiar with Load Balancers, Open Source
Technologies, web and application servers.
Experience of Cloud technologies would be an advantage.
Ability to make technical recommendations based on the analysis of
several technical options and/or the opinions of several IT
professionals from other disciplines.
Should be a very strong communicator. Should be comfortable explaining
difficult technical issues to Marketing and IT managers taking into
account the knowledge of the intended audience.
Experience of working with SCRUM or agile development and release
methodologies would be an advantage.
Qualifications:
Essential
Degree standard or equivalent experience.
Desirable
Computer Science Degree .
