I have a longstanding client with both a permanent and contract requirements for the same type of Systems Administrator. For contract they are happy to contract directly with a contractor rather than through us. It is working in a datacentre environment and you must be able to easily reach their central Berkshire location on a daily basis. You must have strong Linux skills (debian, Ubuntu or CentOS) and OpenBSD as the internal infrastructure servers run on these. You will be supporting the core network which provides access to several thousand servers across multiple locations. So as well as experience of a variety of Cisco, Juniper, Extreme or Foundry kit etc you should be competent in BGP, OSPF, DWDM and all areas of the IPv4 & 6 stack. Obviously scripting experience with Perl, PHP, Python or Bash would be useful as would server installation automation (TFTP, PXE etc). The contract version of the role is available until year end due to some current staff being re-assigned to an internal project. For a permanent role they are hoping to pay around £35k + benefits which is for a 37.5hour week 9am to 5.30pm. 

Personality wise they are not after a product specialist in one area they want someone with a good broad knowledge and the kind of nature to go find out and learn when they come up against a problem so if you are missing a few of the skills listed above but reckon it is the kind of role you would fit right in to (working alongside other similarly minded folk) then please send a cv over and I will call you back within a working day to discuss the client, the role and their plans.
