Linguamatics is a fast growing provider of semantic search and text 
analytics software products based on natural language processing 
technology. One of “30 to watch” in the information industry, 
Linguamatics is established globally as a leading solution in the 
Pharmaceutical and Healthcare industries. We are now looking for 
enthusiastic and talented systems administrators to join the operations 
team.

This is a varied and demanding hands-on role, covering a wide range of 
systems administration, devops and IT functions across the whole 
company, including:

•    Deployment & maintenance of Linguamatics’ text mining servers for 
on-site and remote use in the Cloud
•    Resolution of technical questions and enquiries from customers, 
partners, and Linguamatics staff in person or via email, phone or Webex
•    Help with design and implementation of system architectures that 
will scale smoothly as our processing and storage requirements grow
•    Interaction with the development team to help guide new product 
features and bug fixes
•    Administration and monitoring of all network & security services, 
including hardware and software infrastructure as well as user-level 
services, such as web and mail
•    Implementation of configuration management solutions for all 
servers. and assistance with day-to-day running of services
•    Maintenance of operational processes for our production systems, 
e.g. logging, disaster recovery, security
•    Design and development of documentation and support resources, such 
as self-help and ticketing systems
•    Participation in on-call rota for out-of-hours cover

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with broad experience of 
systems administration and will have most of the following attributes:

•    The desire to become an expert in all technical aspects of 
Linguamatics products
•    Familiarity with multiple platforms and operating systems –  
primarily RedHat Linux, but some familiarity with Windows is essential
•    Practical knowledge of search (e.g. Apache Solr), Cloud deployment 
and/or Big Data
•    Solid programming or scripting skills are essential, preferably 
with some knowledge of or desire to learn Python
•    Knowledge of installation/management or servers including 
configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible
•    Good knowledge of networking protocols and security: e.g. 
firewalls, IDS, naming services, mail servers, webservers, and web-based 
services
•    Strong communication skills and comfortable in a technical  
customer-facing role
•    Attention to detail and the drive to get things done
•    Pro-active, problem-solving attitude and ability to work calmly 
under pressure
•    Good degree or postgraduate qualification in computer science, 
maths or equivalent
