I have another idea, but it requires some work.

Why not put together a 'student branch' of the LLUG, and use the uni
facilities for meetings?  Usually can get facilities for meeting space at
U o L, and the 'student group' can make arrangements for the meeting space
reservations for the 'professional group'.  You'll need to get a faculty
advisor as well.

What are your thoughts ?
