OK - just to clear any confusion. We'll go ahead with the Asterisk intro 
(sorry Dan :-) ).

This will be the first of (probably) three parts - if that is ok with 
people. I will cover some general telephony ground, a bit of history and 
main concepts Asterisk is based on. I know people are keen to see the 
stuff in action, but when I first delved into Asterisk - I struggled to 
understand where lots of bits fitted, and what various stuff actually 
did or meant. So I thought it would be good to cover that ground first, 
before it all turns "hands on".

Then, if there is interest still, I can bring an Asterisk server, few 
phones (software and hardware) and show how it all works together.
