Fw: [Lust] Linux

A good starting point would be to try a "Live
CD" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_CD ). This can run Linux from
the CD-ROM or DVD drive without having to install any software on your
computer. Because it loads all programmes as it needs them from the CD
they tend to run slower than a version on Linux that has been installed
on your hard disc.

A good version of Linux ( many will argue the merits of different
distributions ) is Ubuntu. Their live CD can be downloaded from
http://releases.ubuntu.com/5.10/ . Their main page is
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ .

Perhaps you should say what you wish to achieve with Linux. Make sure
that the applications you wish to run are available - for example if you
are heavily into PC games then you won't find a huge selection that run
under Linux. However if you want to surf the internet and read email
without having to worry about virii then it is an excellent platform. If
you want to start writing your own software then it is a perfect
platform to use.

Hope this sets you off in the right direction.

Regards

Robin
