I use SuSE 8.0 but am not much past a beginner so cannot answer
except to say re USB that SuSE sometimes starts up without my
USB mouse, sometimes with, no apparent pattern - so there seems
to be some dodginess about SuSE and USB - nevertheless SuSE=20
is my favourite. You could also try asking at GlosLUG list as I
know there are a number of SuSE 8.1 users there.
