[Malvern] Fragmentation.

A certain Windows98 box with which I am familiar is full of assorted (rubbish)
programmes and is as slow as hell.
I decided to DEFRAG it, to see what that would do. It has a 40GB disk drive,
and the defragmentation process threatens to outlive me.
Why does Linux not need defragging ? What is it in the Linux file system that
keeps law-and-order without the need for periodic defrags ?
Geoff.
