[Malvern] Debian

Hello,

I keep hearing people comment on Debian being probably one of the best
distros.

Being a long standing FC user, I decided to give it a try on my laptop
to replace Fedora.

It took me a while to work out that its not happy with a 2.4 kernel, but
after a 2.6 kernel install, and getting my wireless to work, as well as
acpi, i'm just left with a prolem with my soundcard. The 2.6.8 kernel
seems to have an issue with the snd-atiixp module.

I have downloaded 2.6.15 and gone through the make oldconfig, make all
etc.. up to make install, however, it does not seem to have created an
initrd.img file..

Is anyone able to give me a pointer on how to get this file created?
