[Malvern] wireless networking ubuntu

you'd think with a networking degree I could figure it out- think again.

After failing miserably to reinstall debian (am a bit out of practice) have hit install on the ubuntu live disk and although it recognises the card as a UBS device cant seem to get any further. Its an aries card, seem to recall its a ralink. 

anyone point a hopeless lost soul in a good direction? have spent all weekend googling this subject and am no further than seeming to understand I need to get ndiswrapper on there somehow
