I've had one of those days ... I'm due to start a new job next week ...
repairing PC's ... contract ... needed to print out a load of guff from
the company ... and this is the day after I spent an entire day trying
to install a new video card in my son's PC ... in the end I had to nick
the one out of my main Linux PC for AGP compatibility ... now the one
thing about Linux where M$ beats the crap out of it is running up an
existing system with a new graphics card ... Linux has to reload ... I
had to resort to a Knoppix Live CD ... and I can't get my wife's email
out of the Linux machine because the directory is locked and Knoppix is
unable to override the permissions ... so my temporary operational
machine is now a laptop, which is Vista, due to be Linux after we have
backed-up all my son's stuff ... and today it gets an HP update from
November 2006 for the scanner/printer that came from work (as did my
son's new PC ... 5 years old and due for a quick recycle at the end of
my contract) ... and on the first page to print after the update ...
both cartridges lock out to error codes ... printer now won't talk to
the PC ... it's too much of a coincidence that this happens right after
a driver update ... and to think of it, November 2006 is when the damn
machine started playing up on XP and stopped scanning ... and both
cartridges are remanufactured ... or am I just being paranoid?
Does anyone have a use for a pair of part-used Black HP 56 and almost
full (bought last week) colour HP 57 cartridges ... because I
sure-as-hell don't have a use for them now! Or the d**m printer.
I'm off the PC World for something that works with Linux and is
"inexpensive".
Life? Don't talk to me about life!!
Cheers,
Andy (yes ... I've had the tears of frustration) Morris
