OK it's easy :)   I did it yesterday in fact.

Just use Ethernet, set up DHCP for the interface in YaST2, and enable SuSE 
Firewall 2.  To get the interface up without rebooting :

rcSuSEFirewall2 stop
rcnetwork restart
rcSuSEFirewall2 start

Booting the scripts allow the DHCP and seem to work ok
