Hi I wonder if anyone could offer me a bit of help get my boot loader to
work correctly

I have just upgraded my dual boot machine to include two hard drives:
My new Primary master is used mostly for work and windoze stuff but my
(old) primary slave has my old linux partition on it (it was used as the
primary master until I upgraded).

With my bios I can manually ask it to boot from a selection of devices
at startup, and at the moment I don't want to overwrite my primary drive
master boot record. Luckily my bios lets me manually request a boot
device at startup so I'd like it to boot from the slave drive (hdb1 I
believe)

In the upgrade process I decided to nuke my old linux installation and
install a fresh but it the installer wasn't able to install to the boot
record on /hdb1.

So I'd like some tips and advice on how to get the boot loader working
on my primary slave drive so that I can manually boot from that device
into linux- as I can't boot linux at the moment, I guess I'll have to do
it from the command line or the boot disk in rescue mode? But I have
absolutely no idea where to start.

Does this make any sense?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
