[Nottingham] Ubuntu/firewalls (lack of)/wine

I've recently installed Ubunto, replacing a SUSE9.1
which regularly crashed (because of hardware disk or
memory activity I thought) and it seems much more
stable. I am using it on a mini-itx EPIA board.

The Ubuntu install doesn't include any services, which
threw me as I want to run it on a headless box using
ssh and X11. Because it doesn't host services they
decided it didn't need a firewall! This is obviously
one for discussion.

Also, Ubuntu is debian based, the wine package for
debian seems to be several months behind others.
Currently I'm using nerd time to get Wine working but
it's not going well.
