That's likely just better defaults in Mozilla and a lack of the MS 
ActiveX/ MS Javascript that are wide open to abuse.

(And there's some good fun current abuse at the moment. MS bags the top

Aside:
The hosts file trick works for Windoze boxes also. Do a 'find' on the 
example host file somewhere in the windows tree and replace/rename as 
appropriate.
