Righto
First thing (I suspect) you want to to is get it online through your windows
machine. As root, type at a console:
route add default gw 192.168.0.1
There is probably a better way of doing this so that SuSE will do it every
time you start up, but this will do for testing :)
If you want to be able to browse your linux machine from windows, then you
need to install/switch on either samba (the windows filesharing system) or
ftp. Ftp is probably a bit easier to set up, but samba will mean that your
linux machine looks like a windows one on the network.
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/SMB-HOWTO.html
Tells you all you need to know. It ammounts to this: fiddle
with /etc/samba/smb.conf, then run 'smbd'. Again, there is probably a SuSE
wizard or something for doing this - might make your life a bit easier!
If you want to browse your windows machines from linux, and are in KDE (which
is probably the case with SuSE) - you should just be able to type
smb:/bobscomputer where 'bobscomputer' is the windows name of a computer.
smb:/192.168.0.1 should probably work as well.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
