Been to these three places for years (cheapest to get to Finland via Tampere, then train it 
down to Helsinki, and visit friends in Espoo...) and it has never been cold whilst I've been 
there - I've been cheated!

I presume you went for DebConf? I was busy working myself to near death at the nearby 
Assembly Demoparty ;)
