[Nottingham] Oracle DBAs - advice required

All,

I've been given the opportunity to change to the Oracle team in April. I have very little experience of databases besides DB2 on the mainframe and some MySQL fooling around. 

Can any experienced Oracle DBAs recommend a good book to get started with (I've got Oracle8 Volume 1 - Concepts and also access to all the Oracle manuals but so far I find them quite 'dry' reading).
