I'm assuming you mean in X, not in terms of the framebuffer...

You could simply take a copy of /etc/X11/xorg.conf from Ubuntu and stick
it in place on your preferred distro (assuming that distro uses X.Org
rather than XFree86)

Another question would be is there a reason you don't want to use
Ubuntu? ;)
