I also suggest Americas Army and Wolfenstien: Enemy territory - both of 
which are free and excellent games.

Also, for the retro fans Doom Skull tag is a fantastic game (Modified 
Doom client that has great multilayer modes such as CTF and more) but 
people will need a doom wadfile...
