[Nottingham] Installing Ubuntu

Michael / Robert / Michael ... many thanks for those thoughts ... and the Ubuntu wiki info.  I really appreciate you taking the time to help out, and trust I won't be a virgin too much longer (:o))  Where can I find the 'fine manual' referred to ?  There's nothing on the CD that I can read with Windows.  The instruction on the CD cover says to set the computer to boot from CD, which I managed to do OK as it's one of the standard BIOS options.
