[Nottingham] Local newsserver and moderated groups

NTL's news server being pretty hopeless with moderated groups (about 1 in 5
messages seems to get treated correctly), I thought I'd install a local
newsserver which would avoid this issue and also serve other machines on the
home network.

But....

Leafnode is easy and does just what I want in one respect (it's intelligent
over what to download, only pulling groups to which someone has
subscribed/read recently), but just passes moderated posts on up the line, so
back to NTL.

INN I haven't actually tried yet, but (a) looks a bit of a monster and (b)
doesn't seem to have the ability to select groups for download in the same
way (unless I've missed it in the copious documentation!)

I haven't been able to find an alternative which will handle moderated posts
yet doesn't take the involvement of a full ISP newsserver system!

Anyone know of anything suitable?
