The test is only likely to pass if:

a) you used the "-pad" option of cdrecord when burning them.

OR

b) ide-scsi is used to perform the mediacheck (which for fc4, it is not
I believe)

You may be able to force ide-scsi by using booting with "hdc=scsi" or
similar (I can't remember the syntax because I haven't used it for ages)

For some drives the above conditions do not seem to matter and passes
anyway.  I believe that it is a kernel bug in 2.6.x that only appears
when directly accessing certain ide-cd devices.  Accessing via a
filesystem does not trigger the bug though AFAIK, so most normal use
will be fine.
