[Nottingham] Two commandline gems: "man -k", "flock"

A fun instance to share:

OK, so bumbling around and dreaming up imaginative ways to coordinate a
series of parallel scripts so that they couldn't trip up over each other
and then thinking mutexes and that this "must have already been done"...
and sure enough:

man -k lock

gave "flock" and a quick

man flock

and it is all so easy!

Certainly follows the observation that if whatever is fairly fundamental
or common and is of use or is "worthwhile" then it likely has already
been programmed.

(OK, so simple things and simple minds 'n' all that :-) )

Have fun,
Martin
