[Nottingham] any help with MIDI please

Hi

I have need of running a link from my laptop PC (running Fedora core4)
to a Yamaha Keyboard (hereinafter referred to as just 'keyboard'),
connected through the USB port using a TaHorng "T-Box" MIDI to USB
converter.

Now, if I plug the USB cable into my daughter's PC (running Windows XP)
and use Jazz++ program I can successfully record and play back. So I
know there is no problem with any of that equipment.

However, plugging same USB cable into my laptop and using 'rosegarden'
program (I need to get formatted music to print out) I can only get
sounds from the PC on the keyboard, but never record anything from
keyboard

I have gone through the rosegarden web pages without success to fix
this. I have configured the track to instrument, enabled recording on
the track but I cannot get it to even see any incoming events from the
keyboard.

What am I missing? Any (reasonable) suggestions?
Just downloaded the most recent stable version of rosegarden and
compiled it last night. Did not notice any errors when installing.
