Bah. Raid arrays. Says he, having had yet another dumbass Dell storage 
array drop a disk this morning and fail to logically catch it. Yes, 
there's a spare. Yes, it's RAID5. No, it seemed to fail the disk and 
then make a half-baked attempt at sparing it out, at the same time as 
propagating SCSI errors back to the OS, thus taking out our Science 
faculty staff email for an hour or so.

Bah. Thread hijacks. Must take my medicine ;-)
