Hi, I used to enjoy YAST too - that was some time ago though. I think the last
SuSE install I did was 6.3.

It sounds like SuSE works pretty well for what you want. When we had the last
fix-it evening I used the SuSE install DVD to repair a trashed boot sector
(damaged by XP) and I wasn't at all surprised when it just worked - just
pleased!

Yes, Tux has done a lot to add appeal to Linux. My kids have loads of toy
penguins and they play a lot of SuperTux, and FrozenBubble (they both have
Linux machines). Although not actually Tux, the game they play the most is
Penguin Brothers (two-player cooperative platform arcade game running under
xmame). I don't think the SuSE reptile character has as much appeal but it's
certainly a better mascot than a red hat!
